Voice Caddie is known for making simple but high-quality GPS gadgets and straight out of the box this one is no different. The package contains the Voice Caddie VC 300, a USB charging cable, and a magnetic ball marker.

Unlike other GPS devices, this one does not need an initial setup. When you receive it, you will only need to charge it to the max and you will be good to go!

When you are ready to play, you will simply need to press the power button, attach the unit to your belt or cap, and let the fun begin. Upon switching the VC 300 on, it will just take a couple of moments before it audibly states the hole you are playing and its par number. The voice is neither distracting nor loud even when set at the maximum volume; so you do not need to worry about disturbing your fellow golfers.

Once off the tee, the VC 300 will only provide guidance if you prompt it. The distances to the front and to the back of the green will only be read out when you swipe a finger across the unit in either direction, while the distance to the center of the green is read out when you click the unit.

Accuracy is one of the major features that customers assess before buying golf GPS devices. The good news is that the VC 300 does not fall short in this regard.  When we compared its calculated distances with the distances calculated by a laser rangefinder and an accurate Garmin device, we found that its distances were always within one yard of the distances calculated by the two devices. So it is fair to say that it is an extremely accurate device.

It is also worth mentioning that the VC 300 will only switch holes once the user gets to the next tee box. This shows that it is very reliable and that it will always provide you with distances to the right putting green. Remember, distances to the wrong putting green could destroy your game.

In addition to its distance measuring function, the VC 300 can also calculate how far your shot has traveled and how good your drive is. Shot distance can be calculated at the push of a button, while your swing rhythm can be measured automatically by the device. Both of these functions can dramatically improve your game if you take advantage of the information they provide.

The device is easy to use and not a lot of time is needed to get used to it. It provides accurate yardages and it is capable of measuring your swing tempo/ rhythm. Additionally, its speaker volume is balanced; it is loud enough that you will clearly hear it every time but not too loud to distract other players. At under 100 USD, the VC 300 is definitely a steal. We highly recommend it for both amateur and professional golfers.
