The IZZO Swami 5000 GPS is a state-of-the-art device that was launched not long ago by IZZO Golf, a company whose DNA is all about making creative and innovative products for golfers. Just a few seconds with this device in your hand and you will agree that it is a truly cutting-edge GPS device.

Although it is an advanced GPS device in terms of the technologies that power it and the many golfing functions it is capable of, the IZZO Swami 5000 GPS is made in such a way that it is very easy to operate.

It is easy to operate because it has a compact and ergonomic design that is easy to grasp. The easily graspable design is complemented by the simplified navigational buttons below the screen that make it easy to move through the settings and features of this device.

The display on the IZZO Swami 5000 is a large 2-inch color LCD display. It makes it easy for a user to quickly read every type of information that the device can gather and display. You don’t have to squint or to remove your sunglasses.

The IZZO Swami 5000 is water resistant. Its water resistance rating is IPX6. This rating implies that the device can survive being exposed to water for a short period (not more than 180 seconds). This means it will survive a drizzle on the course as you run or drive towards the clubhouse.

The design of this thing is undoubtedly impressive, however, it is its features that make it amazing. When we first used the IZZO Swami 5000, we were impressed by the fact that the main screen displayed very accurate distances to the back, the center, and the front of the green. The distance to the center of the green, which is the most important distance, is shown in a larger font than the two other distances.

Besides the distances, the main screen also displayed other useful information such as the hole number and the par number. The screen also displayed the score, the time, and the battery status. All these pieces of information enhanced our golfing experience and we are sure that they can enhance yours.

The IZZO Swami 5000 has another screen that shows up to three hazard distances to help you strategize effectively.

If you want to know how long your shots are, then you’ve got even more reason to get this device since it is capable of shot distance measurement. All you need to do is to press a single button to get into the shot measurement mode and you will get the yardage you want in the measurement unit of your choice.

The digital scorecard on this device is also pretty impressive. When you finish a hole, you simply push the up button to enter your score. For other GPS devices, users often have to press about three buttons to get to the scorecard, an exercise which is cumbersome.

A very interesting and useful feature that even owners of the IZZO Swami 5000 rarely use is the ‘Edit Map’ feature. This feature allows users to edit their local course maps to include important course features that may be missing. It is an important feature since most golf courses are usually upgraded or redeveloped quite regularly, and may therefore have new hazards or features that may not be present in preloaded maps resulting in inaccurate information.

This GPS gadget has a library of over 30,000 mapped golf courses. This may seem like a lot of maps but it is about 10,000 maps shy of what the more modern GPS devices are preloaded with. Even with its all basic and unique features, this device comes with a major flaw in the form of its battery that requires up to 7 hours of charging.
