GolfBuddy WT6 GPS Watch Review

There are dozens if not hundreds of golf watches currently available on the market. Most of them may be different in terms of price and design but they all offer the same golfing functions. The GolfBuddy WT6 is another one of those many watches but with a slight difference. We will explain the difference a bit later in this review.

The WT6 has a simple design with a round-shaped watch face and an old-school display. Nothing really stands out about the display or the appearance of the rest of the watch. However, just like with a real-life buddy, you will only see the true value of the GolfBuddy WT6 when you really need it. When preparing to tee off, this watch will show you the exact distances to key points on the green and the hazards if you are on any of the over 40,000 preloaded golf course maps that it automatically recognizes. You can use the distances to strategize for a better score.

Course recognition takes only a few seconds in the GPS mode. The WT6 is also capable of hole recognition; it will automatically advance to the next hole as you move to it. Upon recognizing the hole, it will show you the hole number and the par number in addition to the distances to the key points on the green.

Like a supportive real-life buddy, the WT6 will also be there to accurately measure your shot distance when you really crush your tee shot.

The biggest difference between this and the other golf watches is in the accuracy. The WT6 is made by GolfBuddy, a company whose mantra is ‘accuracy matters.’ The company has stayed true to its mantra by fitting this device with brilliant technologies that guarantee accuracy in the measurement of distances.

Unfortunately, the WT6 does not have a scorekeeping feature. As earlier implied, it is a very basic entry-level device so this should not come as a surprise. But if you still want it, you can circumvent the omission of the scorekeeping feature by simply carrying a pencil and paper or downloading a third-party scorekeeping app.

GolfBuddy says the watch is water resistant, which means that water splashes or light rain won’t destroy it. But there is no water rating so it is difficult to say for sure if you can take a shower, or go diving or swimming with it.

The WT6 gives you up to 9 hours in the GPS mode. In the watch mode, you can use the WT6 for up to two months before needing to recharge it.
